Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy is a delightful read that fills in a lot of blanks from the main series.
I, unfortunately, read this after I read Lady Midnight so some stories were spoiled. However, having read this after the events in Lady Midnight I feel like I understood the feelings of the characters more rather than simply reading their introductions to the main series. Most notably, Emma and Julien’s involvement.
The only issue I had was that the first few stories started to get repetitive in their plots. A guest lecturer would arrive and tell a story about the past that has very real implications and consequences for the future.
Overall, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy was a fantastic read that adds a lot to the Shadowhunter universe. I am now even more excited for Lord of Shadows!!
