Hello everyone!
During the month of January, I read 8 books. January was a very meh reading month for me. I’m happy Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson was fantastic, but it’s really the only book that stands out.
So, here are some stats!
Number of pages read: 3113
Number of print books: 4
Number of e-books: 4
Favourite quote of the month:
“Memory is often our only connection to who we used to be. memories are fossils, the bones left by dead versions of ourselves.” – Tress of the Emerald Sea, Brandon Sanderson
“I refrained from joining in the prayer. I rarely said the Our Father. Though I loved its cadence, I begged only Mary – only women – for forgiveness.” – Scorched Grace, Margot Douaihy

Without further ado… Without further ado…. here are my top two favourite books of the month from differing genres.

Tress of the Emerald Sea is classic Sanderson but with a whimsical twist.

A Flicker in the Dark is twisted in the best ways possible. The mystery itself had be guessing until the end, there characters were all suspicious, and throw in a sprinkle of unreliable narrator and you get a novel that’s hard to put down.

Happenstance is a fun, quick, and sexy reverse harem about four people trying to find themselves and their place in the world and with each other. 3 Stars
Make a Wish started out strong but faltered in its use of cliche relationship hurdles. 3 Stars
Sorrow and Starlight was the final nail in the coffin for my love of Zodiac Academy. I couldn’t get past the slow pace and the unnecessary POV chapters, so I will not be continuing this series. DNF @ 56%
Legends & Lattes is a difficult book to properly review because it’s about the feelings you get while reading. I felt calm, relaxed, and cozy as Viv pursued her dream of opening a coffee shop, made new friends, and found love along the way. 4 Stars
Exes and O’s is a fun friends-to-lovers romance about past relationships, growth, and remaining true to yourself when everyone around you expects you to conform to their standards. 4 Stars
Scorched Grace … full review to come! 2 or 3 Stars (undecided)
