Sink your teeth into this exciting new paranormal series that transports you to an elite vampire academy where a half vampire, half human must hone his bloodthirsty side in order to survive in a cutthroat world. Perfect for fans of The Atlas Sixand True Blood.
Nestled in the Swiss Alps, VAMPS is the ultimate academy for the children of the most wealthy and powerful vampire families. Unfortunately for Dillon, he’s an outsider—to be more specific, he’s a dhampir: a vampire that is half human.
If he wants to survive more than a single term, he’s going to need to embrace his fangs. But blood never lies and soon, it becomes clear there is something special and deadly in Dillon’s veins. But as his power grows, so does the target on his back…

VAMPS: Fresh Blood is exactly what you’d expect from a book with this kind of title. I’m not sure why an editor would allow such a title since it’s easy to dismiss and not take seriously.
The introduction to the world and the characters is enough to make a lot of readers consider DNF’ing within the first few pages. Too many characters are introduced and are barely given any distinguishing features. It really wasn’t until the end of the novel that I had a handle on all the characters. Once I was able to get somewhat of a handle on the characters, I was able to focus on the little world building that there was. Honestly, there’s an interesting story buried beneath the poor writing, terrible character development, and the negligible world building.
VAMPS: Fresh Blood is told from Dillion’s perspective as he becomes instantly infatuated with one of his fellow students. Despite this instant attraction, there was no chemistry or any developed relationship by the end of the novel.
Overall, VAMPS: Fresh Blood is exactly what you’d expect from a novel titled as such. Everything about it is surface level and with descriptions like “womb-like”, VAMPS: Fresh Blood is worth the read if you’re looking for a good laugh.
*** I received an arc from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
