The winds of fate are shifting, and it finally seems like they’ve been twisted in our favour.
On the run and cast out from society, we’ve been forced to hide from the mad man who stole our throne. But as more secrets come to light and my sister and I work harder than ever before to reach our potential and claim our birth right, the end is finally drawing closer.
There is no turning from this path now. The curse chases on our heels as time rushes by and the blood drenched destiny of the man I love looms ever closer just like the monster who stole our throne.
We must prepare for the final battle, but three things are clear now.
The cards have already been dealt.
Blood will spill for a new future to rise.
And the stars themselves can’t help us.
The fight for the throne is upon us. All hail the heartless sky.
HOW DARE THEY END BOOK 7 LIKE THAT?! I am broken.
Heartless Sky is easily the most heart breaking novel of the series. It ends on a cliff hanger to end all cliff hangers, so be warned.
Heartless Sky is the most Harry Potter-like of all the books in the series. The characters are all living in a place called The Burrows and they even go on quest similar to that of Deathly Hallows.
What I enjoy most about this series is Peckham and Valenti’s ability to blend the romance and fantastical elements with the plot so well. They take the time to develop their characters and their very complex and ever evolving relationships. Heartless Sky is no different, however I would like to note that the plot took a bit of a backseat to the relationships in this novel (I’ll expand on this below) in order for the ending to pack a big a punch as it did.
Heartless Sky has a lot of balls juggle as the story shifts with the characters no long at Zodiac Academy and fully on the run from Lionel while trying to organize a rebellion. The old rivalries between the heirs and the Vegas is still simmering beneath the surface, but the evolution of their friendships over the course of the series has been truly captivating and beautiful to watch. Some of the more major plot points should have had more page time to develop. Instead, some were resolved in a handful of pages then seemingly had no effect on the events later in the novel.
The ending of this novel is relentless as Peckham and Valenti take readers on a terrifying roller coaster with no end in sight. The novel ends on a cliff hanger of epic proportions leaving readers with their heart in their throats until December 2022. Be warned it’s a bold move on the authors’ part to leave everything in such turmoil. I feel like book 8 is going to be a bittersweet ending.
Overall, Heartless Sky will rip readers to pieces as it enters the closing stages of this series. The stakes are high and the consequences even higher as the characters put everything on the line to defeat their foes. Be warned, Peckham and Valenti are ruthless and will not coddle you to the end.
