Zodiac Academy: Shadow Princess was going to be my least favourite of the series so far, until the ending. Peckham and Valenti upped the ante in a way I never thought possible. I didn’t think they would do it, but they did!

Shadow Princess changed the dynamics between the characters. Everything will be different moving forward. One of the biggest changes was between Tory and Caleb. I could never fully appreciate their time together since Caleb is still an heir, but I did enjoy watching Tory own her sexuality and have fun. Though Shadow Princess revealed Caleb’s true colours, I think he’ll come to regret his actions and decisions sometime soon.

At around the 60% mark, I had decided I was going to rate the novel four stars. I know that this series is a bully romance, but I think that the heirs went too far. I loved the where the plot was going, Tory and Darcy’s devopment and their continued education, but the heirs’ actions were enough to knock a star rating off. However, the choices the authors made at the end redeemed the novel enough for it to warrant a five star rating.

Let’s talk about that ending. Spoiler free. Readers can see this ending coming from a mile away. The authors did a fantastic job in the last two novels of foreshadowing this explosive and gut wrenching ending. I am heartbroken yet relieved with the choice Tory made. You go girl. Never settle for less than you deserve.

Overall, Zodiac Academy: Shadow Princess demonstrated that Peckham and Valenti are not afraid to put their characters to the test and deny them when necessary. Shadow Princess upped the ante in ways I didn’t think they would, so I am beyond excited to read the next novel!
