Haven’t read the first book, Zodiac Academy: The Awakening? Check out my review HERE!
They tried to break us.
They almost did.
But we’re not going anywhere.
The Celestial Heirs think the stars are on their side. But they don’t know what’s coming. Fighting them one on one isn’t an option so we have to be stealthy. Remaining under the radar won’t be easy, but if we pull it off, they’ll never suspect our involvement when their lives start falling apart.
Besides, they’ve already taken us to the brink of hell, what more can they really do?
Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae picks up immediately from is predecessor with Tory and Darcy deciding what to do after the horrible events at the end of Zodiac Academy: The Awakening.
I’m addicted to this series. After I read the first book I knew this would be my new obsession, but the sequel cemented my love for it even more. So, my review may be a little biased, but I’ll try to be a little less biased later.
What I enjoy so much about Zodiac Academy is the setting and the main characters. The school itself is magical and full of surprises. I know it’s early in the series, but just when I though I knew most of the school Peckham and Valenti unveiled another mystery. It’s an intoxicating environment that captures the magic of a boarding school setting flawlessly.
The main characters, Tory and Darcy, are also what makes Zodiac Academy so good. They’re mature, competent, and not easily pushed around. It’s refreshing to read protagonists in a bully romance setting who have a backbone throughout the novel instead of only at the end for their revenge.
Here’s the part where I try to be unbiased. Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae doesn’t really have a plot or direction. There are a few bigger plot points that are brought up, but they act more as a bridge between this book and the next. Zodiac Academy: The Awakening and this novel should have been one book, but that would have made it over 1200 pages. On the other hand, Ruthless Fae allows readers to simmer in the world and get to know the characters more while watching Tory and Darcy come more into their own.
Overall, Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae is a continuation of its predecessor. Readers get to experience more of the magical school, watch as Tory and Darcy start to get revenge on the heirs, and discover more about this mysterious world and its inner workings. Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae will leave you desperate for the next book, Zodiac Academy: The Reckoning.
