“Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!”

The Three Ws are: What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m about 100 pages in and I really like the idea behind the story. So far, the characters, January and Gus, are complex and multifaceted. I like the dialogue, especially the witty banter. Though, the chemistry is slightly lacking. Hopefully that will change soon!

What is there to say about The Way of Kings other than it’s a masterpiece of fantasy writing? This was my second time reading The Way of Kings and I loved it even more the second time around. All the reveals Sanderson peppers throughout the novel feel earned. If you’re paying attention, the foreshadowing is there.
I noticed during my read this time, I was screaming for more Shallan/Jasnah chapters. When I first read it, I was so invested in Kaladin and the Shattered Plains that I didn’t pay attention to Shallan and Jasnah as much as I should have. I certainly did this time around.
I will be updating my review soon, so look out for that if you’re interested.

I picked up a copy of White Fragility at Costco this past weekend and plan on reading it next. It’s important to stay educated!

After watching Brandon Sanderson’s latest livestream, I decided it’s finally time to give Schwab another read. I read Vicious and disliked it, so I haven’t picked up another of her novels. Fingers crossed I love A Darker Shade of Magic!

  1. Great post! I really need to read some of V E Schwab’s work! Darker Shade of Magic has been on my list for a while now

  2. I really enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic, but I also loved Vicious so it will be interesting to see if it works any better for you😁

  3. Loved reading about your love for The Way of Kings! Will be on the lookout for your updated review 😀
Excited to see what you think of A Darker Shade of Magic. I also didn’t like Vicious but loved the Shades of Magic trilogy so really hoping you will too.
