Hello!
During the month of September I read 11 books! It was a pretty stellar month as I rated almost everything either four or five stars.
As usual, here are my two favourite books of the month from differing genres!
What a surprise that one of my favourite books of the month is The Testaments! Who would have guessed?! Though, I can admit that The Testaments is not as good as The Handmaid’s Tale, it’s still an excellent sequel that builds upon its predecessor while giving readers something more.
Annnnnnd… Cue book hangover.
The Burning Shadow is the second installment in the Origin series, a spinoff from The Lux series. What makes The Burning Shadow incredible is its action packed plot and the chemistry between the main characters.
The Burning Shadow releases October 8, 2019
The Handmaid’s Tale is a book that will change you. You won’t be the same person once you’ve finished the book. After rereading it, you’ll be changed even more.
Handle with Care is a quick read that is sure to please but is nowhere near my favourite of the series.
The Darkest Star is the next evolution in the Lux series. It caters flawlessly to existing fans while also making new ones.
Holding on to Forever was not the perfect fit romance I wanted it to be. If you are a fan of issues heavy romance novels, Holding on to Forever is sure to please.
Fractured is much better than its predecessor. Fractured is everything I rave about with Slaughter novels: disturbing mystery, unpredictable twists and turns, and incredible character development.
Emergency Skin is an incredible piece of writing clocking in at only 24 pages. Jemisin is able to create an expansive world and comment on politically poignant topics where other authors are trying to communicate their opinion on 250 plus pages.
How We Fight For Our Lives is a quick but powerful read as Jones bares his soul for all to see.
A Lie for a Lie is a fun, cute, and sexy romance with strong The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker vibes.
Princeps’ Fury is the penultimate novel in the Codex Alera series. All I will say is that things heated up and I am fired up the final novel! Especially after those last few pages!
Have you read any of these? What did you think? What did you read in the month of September?
Wow, you had a fantastic month! I’m so curious about Emergency Skin, I’m going to check that one out soon😁
I think you’ll really like it!
Emergency Skin was indeed fantastic!! And I loved that they gave us the audio which was also really well done. Looks like you did have an awesome month Nadine!
I’m going to have to check out the audio versions moving forward. I usually don’t listen to audiobooks.
I don’t either- but because these are relatively short- they are a little easier to listen to then a whole novel.
A fantastic month of reading, Nadine! I look forward to diving into The Testaments soon. Hope it won’t somehow find a way to disappoint me hahah
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 🤞
