Monthly Wrap-Up | May 2019

Hey everyone!

May wasn’t the greatest reading month for me since I only read 8 books. Work has started to pick up, so I don’t have as much time to read as I did before. I started Priory of the Orange Tree a few days ago and won’t finish it this month, but I think it will be featured in my Best Books of the Month for June. Fingers crossed!

As usual, here are my top two books of the month from differing genres. However, this month I chose two novels from the same genre, romance #sorrynotsorry.

Best Books of the Month 1

long shot

Long Shot is a romance not to be missed as Ryan explores an abusive relationship. Readers watch as Iris springs from the ashes like the phoenix she is into a new version of herself.

F*ck marriage

F*ck Marriage is an emotionally heavy novel that gets at the core of relationships, marriage, and what happens after they end. F*ck Marriage is another Fisher novel in a long line of novels that proves her writing skills are second to none.

everything else 1

Furies of Calderon is a solid set up for a great fantasy series. I’m excited to jump into the sequel because, based on the synopsis, it seems as if the sequel’s plot could have been book one.four stars black

Meet Cute had the potential to be the perfect romance had Hunting leaned into the romance without sacrificing the plot.three stars black

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The Lost Prophecy chapter is heartbreaking.five stars black

The Unhoneymooners is a fun and flirty romantic comedy that just misses the mark of a five star read.four stars black

Blood of Elves has a semi interesting story buried under everything else here. Will I go back and read the first novel? Probably not, but I will be tuning in for the television show.three stars black

On the Come Up is a great follow up novel to THUG that cements Thomas as an inspiring writer and not a one hit wonder.four stars black

Have you read any of these? What did you think? What did you read in the month of May?

  1. After reading 11 books in April I only read two books in May (granted, one was a 900+ page epic fantasy) but I enjoyed both immensely. I also started The Black Prism in May and I should be finishing that one soon.
Out of these I’ve only read the Harry Potter one, but I have The Furies of Calderon on my TBR. And I’m planning on picking up Long Shot during my summer break 🙂

  2. I’ve heard great things about on the come up !! One of my favourite booktubers – kat from paperbackdreams mentioned it too. I’ll be def. Checking it out! ❤
