I’m about 200 pages into it and I’m enjoying it for the most part. As with most fantasy novels, there are a lot of characters. Unfortunately, Shannon didn’t do a spectacular job of defining the characters to make them stand out. So, at the beginning of each chapter I find myself trying to remember who the characters are and how the side of the world they live in functions as compared to the other.
I’m definitely interested in continuing to see where this story goes!
Recently finished:
On the Come Up is a great follow up novel to THUG that cements Thomas as an inspiring writer and not a one hit wonder.
F*ck Marriage is an emotionally heavy novel that gets at the core of relationships, marriage, and what happens after they end.
What’s Next?
I’m not really sure what mood I’ll be in once I finisher The Priory of the Orange Tree. We’ll see!
If you read my last WWW Wednesday post, I was planning on reading Middlegame by Seanan McGuire, but the library copy still hasn’t come in, so my watch continues.
Finished up a few things recently including the first law trilogy (AMAZING) and Asimov’s collected short stories volume 2 (equally amazing). Now I’ve stepped back into the real world and I’m powering through The Secret History which is just so captivating. Looking ahead, I think I’m going to go for some classic sci fi next. Possibly Ringwood or The Ragged Astronauts but there are many other potential candidates!!!
Sounds like you’re killing it! I’ve heard nothing but good things about The Secret History. I’ll have to pick it up soon.
Happy reading! 😃
I’m curious to see what you think of both The Priory and The Gutter Prayer! Neither was spectacular for me, but I know lots of other readers enjoyed them more than I did.
I’ve got about 300 pages left of The Priory and I’m actually really enjoying it. The first 100 pages were a little rough, but now that I’ve got the lay of land I’m digging it. I really like the dragons and how they talk. Though, so far I’m wishing there’s more dragons.
A Lot of readers were wishing for more dragons I think!
Not sure what my next reads will be – I need to take a look and see what’s next on the list. Just finished Red Stained Wings and not started another yet because I’ve been too busy.
Lynn 😀
Happy reading! ☺️
