Bound (Book of the Ancestor 2.5) – Mark Lawrence

Haven’t read the previous novels, Red Sister and Grey Sister? Check out my reviews!

bound
five stars black
Genre: Fantasy
Pages: 49
Release Date: December 19, 3018

This is a 16,000 word short story, primarily featuring Nona, Ara, Kettle, Regol. It should be read between Grey Sister and Holy Sister.

Again, I stress SHORT STORY.

Bound is a short story that takes place six months after Grey Sister. Bound is a cute (I never thought I’d describe something in this series as cute) and fun story that features Nona, Ara, Kettle, and Regol.

Ara is tasked with discovering who’s behind the poisonings of some wealthy individuals. In order to accomplish her task, Ara has to brush up on her kissing skills! Everything about Bound is fun and as light hearted as something in this trilogy can be.

I enjoyed how the focus of this short story was the relationships between the characters. That’s not to say readers do not get this in the main books, but Bound signals to readers to get ready for some relationships!

The introduction of the bonds between characters in Grey Sister that allows readers to experience a different point of view is utilized splendidly in Bound and makes me even more excited for Holy Sister.

Overall, Bound is a great addition to the Book of the Ancestor that will hype you even more for the final book, Holy Sister.

Have you read Bound? What did you think?
