“Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!”

The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

parable of the sower
In honour of Black History Month, I’m making an effort to read more OWN voices novels.  Parable of the Sower will be my second OWN voices novel this month, after How Long ‘Til Black Future Month? by N.K. Jemisin. I’m only a few pages into Parable of the Sower, so no thoughts yet. If you’re interesting, add me on Goodreads and look out for my updates!

Recently Finished:

how long till black future month4star_Fotor

I’m usually not a fan of short stories and tend to stay away from them, but when I heard that N.K. Jemisin released a collection I had not choice but to read them. There are a lot of stories packed into this 400 page collection, so a lot of them are shorter than I’m used to when it comes to short stories and for that I was pleased. Her stories are more science fiction and fantasy based with some magical realism thrown in as well. I found that I either LOVED the story or disliked it, which is why I rated it four stars instead of five.
My full review will be posted within a few days, so look out for that!

What’s Next?

the blood mirror
What can I say? I need to get back into this world ASAP!

What about you? What are your three Ws this Wednesday? Have you read any of the books mentioned above?

  1. Not a huge reader of short story collections either (as you said, I tend to hate some of the stories and love others) but I do want to check out the jemisin book at some point! I’m reading Labyrinth of Scions and Sorcery right now and hoping to get to Ruin of Kings next!

    1. I think I would have enjoyed it even more had I not binged the entire thing. It would have been more enjoyable to take my time.
I’ve never heard The Risen Kingdoms, but it sounds fantastic! I added it to my TBR 🙂
Ouuu! Looking forward to your review of Ruin of Kings. I’ve been eyeing that one for a bit now.

  2. I don’t tend to read short story collections – I sometimes get sucked in but to be honest they just don’t work for me as a rule so I try to avoid. I’m also reading Ruin of Kings at the moment – it’s very good but somehow seems to feel like a slow(ish) read for some reason.
    Lynn 😀
