Hey everyone!
Another month come and gone. During the month of December I was only able to read 8 books because of the holidays and a few of books I read were longer.
As usual, I feature my top two books of the month from differing genres.
City of Stairs an incredible fantasy novel that accomplishes everything it set out to do and more! City of Stairs features two nations with tumultuous pasts, robust characters, and beautifully poetic writing.
Surviving Amber Springs is more than just a book; it’s an intense experience. Blaire’s journey is intensely personal and intimate. I would recommend Surviving Amber Springs to anyone open to reading about polyamorous relationships looking for an emotional and passionate story.
Slayer is a fun addition to the Buffyverse for new fans and old alike. Though, I think long time fans may find more enjoyment with this one.
Speak is a must read for everyone. I’m disappointed that I didn’t read it sooner.
The Dark Artifices is easily Clare’s best work. It’s full of incredible action, compelling characters, diverse representation, and world changing events.
A Winter’s Promise has the potential to be an incredible beginning to a fantasy series, but falls flat in it choice to uphold a misogynistic culture without check or balance.
Forgiving Keven may not be the best novel to dive into The Kennedy Boys series, but it did convince me to start at the beginning as soon as possible!
What is there to say about Kingdom of Ash other than it’s an explosive finale. I really enjoyed it as it gave me everything I wanted and expected from it. Though, the ending feels rushed so that’s why I gave it four instead of five stars.
I totally agree – City of Stairs is an amazing read.
Lynn 😀
Have you read City of Blades? I’m planning on reading it soon!
I’m so glad you enjoyed Slayer! I was a little worried to read it, but now I’m more excited 😁
Enjoy! 😆
It looks like you had a pretty great month, ratings-wise! And I’m glad you enjoyed City of Stairs. Honestly, that series just gets better and better (tho book 2 is my favourite :))
I’m so glad to hear that! City of Blades is high on my TBR.
I’ve heard great things about Speak. I want to give it a shot someday! 😮
It’s worth it. Especially since it’s such a quick read.
