Burying Water is a novel about forbidden love and dangerous choices that will keep you reading until the last page.
Trigger Warning: Physical and sexual abuse
The pacing is slower, however the characters are complex and fleshed out enough that it will keep you entertained the whole way through.
The story is told in duel perspective from two different times (past and present). This created a unique reading experience that kept me guessing. This also allowed for each character to be developed as fully as possible on their own, rather than contingent upon each other.
I also loved all the secondary characters. They were complex and interesting in ways that secondary characters usually are not. I especially loved Ginny and the Felixes.
The mystery component of this novel isn’t it’s strongest feature. It’s obvious where the story is going from the first few chapters. So, if you’re looking for a good mystery, Burying Water will disappoint you in that aspect.
Overall, Burying Water was a fantastic read about finding love in forbidden places and the dangerous consequences of pursuing it.
